Lex's Garden
New Orleans
In collaboration with Crooked Architecture
At the corner of Laurel Street and Washington Avenue in the heart of the historic Irish Channel, our client developed two new residential condos. Custom concrete pavers are laid on top of a sub-surface rain collection system, which meanders down the narrow alley connecting the parking to the front doors and street. Tropical water loving and shade tolerant species thrive here where down-spouts unload the roof top runoff. This project is zero-waste, as all of the soils excavated for the rain collection system were used to build up a berm around the patio in the back yard to enhance a sense of nestling into the landscape. Left over pieces of slate are integrated into the patio surface as well.
