Lex's Garden
New Orleans
Collaboration with Crooked Architecture
Lex had runoff problems, so we made his alley walkway double as a rain garden. Excavated to a 2 foot depth, and back-filled with recycled concrete rubble where water can find find lots of air space to soak back into the ground. Here tropical plants complete for light as residents meander down the path. In the backyard, a patio had been installed using matching custom concrete pavers. The patio is wrapped with a low berm built with the left over fill excavated for the rain garden. Slate chunks are integrated into the patio as well.
